Aleali May now has a Barbie of her own

The stylist, model and sneaker designer with multiple collaborations with Jordan has just unveiled her first ever union with the famous toy company Mattel Creations. The result? Aleali May is fulfilling a childhood dream by creating her own Barbie and a streetwear look set largely inspired by her work.

“I wanted to create a mini version of myself as a Barbie and create all the basic pieces I usually wear during Fashion Week” she explains through an Instagram post that presents this unprecedented collaboration. This unique Barbie in the image of Aleali May takes all the elements from one of her favourite looks worn during Paris Fashion Week.

“They executed it to perfection. From my A chain to my bag in collaboration with jewellery designer Martine Ali to my very first collaboration with Jordan in 2017,” the Los Angeles-based American points out. The designer explains that she is delighted to be part of the Barbie dolls that include diversity, as she identified so much with certain groups of girls from the 90s, R’n’B singers, rappers or models: “these same girls who showed girls like me that we could be that girl too.”

While the Aleali May Barbie will be auctioned off, the set of the second outfit inspired by her latest collaboration with Jordan, namely “Fortune”, will be distributed in limited edition on the Mattel Creations website on December 3rd. The pack includes a bodysuit, oversized t-shirt, cargo trousers, boots and heels, in shades of green and white. A must-have under the tree!
