The Golden State Warriors’ point guard turned 32 this weekend. The perfect occasion for the brand Under Armour to treat the NBA player to a new version of his signature Curry 7 sneakers.
Since his partnership with Under Armour began in 2013, NBA champion Stephen Curry has become one of the brand’s most legendary ambassadors. New releases have come thick and fast over the years since unveiling the Curry 1 model in 2015. The brand celebrates every March 14th as a milestone since it’s none other than the sportsman’s birthday. The brand may have got us used to loud and colourful models like the stand-out Curry 2 “Splash Party” in 2016 but 2020’s Curry 7 is more understated and chic. The Curry 7 Pi Players Exclusive, taking its name from the Pi digits (March 14th is Pi Day too) that appear on the heel tab, stands out for its black and white look. The knitted upper and leather laceless details rank it in the seriously trendy sneaker sock category. The sole also features both UA HOVR™ and Micro G® cushioning platforms.
“Stephen is all about ease of entry with his footwear, and a casual slip-on take of the Curry 7 for his to and from the court movements was something we knew he’d like. We had the idea while finalizing the Curry 7 and reviewing knit placements for the upper,” says John Humphrey, design director at Under Armour.
“We thought, what about a full knit collar PE? Something clean, understated for Stephen to wear off-court. We just didn’t know then that he’d like the PE so much that he’d ask us to release it! ”
The Curry 7 Pi Players Exclusive is now available for 140€ on the website UA.com
