Emily in Paris: the series releases its first fashion collaboration

The new episode of the delightfully kitschy series created by Darren Star hit Netflix on 22 December. To mark the occasion, “Emily in Paris” has teamed up with the eco-responsible Turkish brand My Beachy Side to create its first ever fashion collection.

After a slightly awkward stroll through the capital in the first season, the so Frenchy American discovers the holidays on the French Riviera. And the south means new looks. “Emily’s fashion sense is unashamedly original, always with a sense of humour. Her goal is to be herself and maintain her individuality,” says designer Darren Star in an interview with Vogue. “The collection with My Beachy Side captures the casual glamour and joie de vivre of the south of France. It expresses a totally different look for our characters – holiday chic,” he adds.

With seaside-inspired crochet bralettes and fringed maxi dresses in ocean colours, each piece in the collection is hand-knitted or crocheted, embodying sunny summers. Sailor shorts, cardigans, swimming costumes, fish tunics: the collection literally immerses us in the glam and bohemian aesthetic of Saint-Trop’. The brand’s founder, Gamze Ates, also emphasises the handmade and responsible dimension of the range. My Beachy Side is a company that puts Turkish craftsmanship and the autonomy of women in the country at the heart of its DNA, thanks to knitting and crochet without waste.
