Frank Ocean, the Californian with the adored discography, has announced some unexpected news: his label Homer has just been created. What’s on the agenda? A luxurious series of jewellery and accessories.
While many fans have been on the lookout for a new project from the singer since his superb album Blonde, Frank Ocean has decided to seduce a new audience by getting involved in the world of fashion. This weekend, he presented his new luxury brand called “Homer” in a press release: an “independent American luxury company”. This project has been in the works since 2018 and its name would seem to be akin to envying “carving history in stone.” Its very first collection lifts the veil on fine, high quality jewellery pieces, as well as printed silk scarves.
The range of jewellery in 18-carat gold, recycled sterling silver, hand-painted enamel and lab-grown American diamonds is perfectly in tune with the times. Designed in New York and made in Italy, the designs are inspired by the artist’s childhood, as evidenced by the vibrant colours and playful shapes of some of the pieces, which can be seen on his Instagram account and on the brand’s official website. As for the price, Frank Ocean has seen things through, since the jewels will be priced from 435 dollars (for a plus-symbol enamel pendant) to 1.9 million dollars for a “high jewellery necklace with sphere legs”.
A boutique opened on Monday 9 August in New York (70-74 Bowery) and visits are currently by invitation only. International orders are also available, but only by telephone…
