“A history of fashion. Collecting and exhibiting at the Palais Galliera”. The Parisian museum invites the public to rediscover its history and its precious collections, 350 pieces, through its beautiful exhibition open until 26 June 2022.
If the Palais Galliera used to host temporary exhibitions before undertaking huge works for its reopening in 2020, this mythical Parisian museum dedicated to the art of fashion can now present permanent exhibitions in its new galleries. Thus, “A History of Fashion. Collecting and exhibiting at the Palais Galliera” was born.
From one masterpiece to another, from the flying dress to the creations of Comme des Garçons, from the wardrobe of Countess Greffulhe to the avant-garde pieces of Rick Owens, everyone discovers a history of fashion, from the 18th century to the present day, illustrated by the most beautiful pieces from the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. Each chronological section deals with the specificities of the period, from the prints of the 19th century to the cocktail dresses of the 1950s, from the rich materials and decorations of the 1920s to the minimalism of Belgian and Japanese designers from the 1980s onwards.
As you can see, the exhibition is organised thematically and chronologically. A good way to rediscover the history and trends that have crossed the centuries in the fashion capital. Another exhibition currently on show at the Palais Galliera? Vogue 1920-2020.
