LDVaporwaffle collaboration takes shape

In Paris, the FW2021-22 Sacai Haute Couture show by designer Chitose Abe and creator Jean-Paul Gaultier conquered the fashion stratosphere with 31 epic looks. On some of the models’ feet? The famous LDVaporwaffle Nike x Sacai x Jean Paul Gaultier collaboration in two colourways. A first drop of the silhouette took place a few months ago, but the official release will be at the end of September.

After Dior and Jordan, and more recently Nike and Louis Vuitton, the world of sportswear and luxury collaborations is taking another step forward. The new pair was presented at the Sacai x Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture show in Paris on Wednesday 7 July 2021. The iconic style of the enfant terrible of fashion under the Japanese impulse of Sacai? Many dreamed of it and were not disappointed. Amongst all the cutting edge looks, collaborations with designer Pierre Hardy, tattoo artist @Dr_woo and of course the swoosh brand.

Under the influence of Sacai and JPG, Nike’s VaporWaffle has been elevated beyond its original design. The low-top sneaker now sports a mid-range look, supported by layers of nylon, leather and suede that make up the shoe’s upper, including its stacked Swoosh. A thick cross-stitch echoing those seen on baseball gloves connects the multi-textured panels. Available in a multi-coloured version (yellow, blue, green, orange and camel) and then in a black and white colourway, the ultra-conceptual sneaker stands out from previous Nike x Sacai drops. The collaboration is expected to be released in late September 2021, as announced on Sacai’s official Instagram.
