Netflix is releasing a documentary series about Kanye West filmed over the course of 20 years

Netflix has just spent 30 million dollars on the rights for an incredible documentary series devoted to the rap legend Kanye West and filmed over two decades.

Billboard announced the news. The streaming platform will have to make a splash as it unveils the programme putting Kanye West in the spotlight. How much? A cool 30 million dollars. The series will include never-before-seen images of the rapper and will cover his music and fashion career, the tragic death of his mother, Donda West, in 2007 and his epic failure at the presidential elections in 2020.

Who’s directing? Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, better known as Coodie & Chike. The pair previously directed and produced the Kanye West videos Jesus Walks (Version 3) and Through the Wire in 2004. It’s not the pair’s first documentary as they previously brought us A Kid from Coney Island about the professional basketball player, Stephon Marbury.  The series is untitled for now but the entire world is wondering if the hot potato of his divorce with Kim Kardashian will crop up. To be continued.
