The famous Air Jordan 5 Retro Sail is due out any minute and a clothing capsule collection is joining the sneakers designed by the Jumpman brand and Virgil Abloh.
After countless teasers about the much-anticipated sneakers and endless rumours about the release date, Off-White™ and Jordan have finally officially announced when the Off-White ™ x Air Jordan 5 Sail is due to land. To keep the fans chomping at the bit, the two brands have unveiled a mini clothing capsule collection too. First unveiled by Virgil Abloh in February for the NBA All-Star Weekend and based on the Black Metallic design – the designer continues to pay tribute to Michael Jordan and the iconic Air Jordan 5 Fire Red.
The unisex pair features a beige upper in synthetic TPE instead of classic leather and, like its Off-White x Air Jordan 5 Retro Black Metallic counterpart, features the same removable circular semi-translucent panets. The vintage-style piece is finished with different touches of black and red, a reflective 3M tongue, a “23” on the sides and the famous Helvetica font such as “SHOELACES” on the laces.
The brands have designed matching clothing so you can wear the full look. An oversize hoodie with white and beige panels and the red Jordan logo and Off-White inscription in the middle. The back features a jumble of logos, the Jordan wings and Off-White cross. Nylon joggers feature the same signature designs. The drawstrings on each piece have Abloh’s signature “SHOELACES”.
Last but not least, there’s a black and white t-shirt with a little boy dreaming of being the legend that is Michael Jordan. A poetic depiction of Abloh as a child who can now stand shoulder to shoulder with his long-standing idol. The Air Jordan 5 Retro Sail x Off-White launches on Thursday October 29th on the SNKRS app and the clothing range is out in mid-December. Good cop everyone!
