Each year, the highly regarded Parsons New York School of Design honours influential individuals who bring their unique vision and contribution to the fashion world. For this 72nd Parsons Benefit, the prolific Travis Scott will be among those honoured.
For its annual Parsons Benefit event, the prestigious school presents a number of fashion personalities with awards. Indeed, Parsons highlights the impact that certain creatives can have on the industry by contributing to design, retail, entrepreneurship, sustainability, the arts and inclusiveness. Little wonder then that rapper and designer Travis Scott is on the list. “I am thrilled to receive this honour from The New School and grateful to be part of this group of innovators. I’ve always tried to merge fashion, technology and the arts in everything I do. It’s all connected and it’s a very natural extension of my work. It has never been about specific brands or labels for me. It’s more about a vision. It’s about creating your own work, looking at what’s out there and never compromising. “
In addition to being a phenomenon in the global rap game, La Flame is definitely a fashion icon whose streetwear & sneaker collaborations are sold out. In addition, the Houston native has just created the Cactus Jack Foundation, to provide scholarships and creative programs to youth in need, in partnership with Parsons. The 72nd Parsons Benefit will take place on the Rooftop of Pier 17 in New York’s Seaport District and will bring together the cream of the fashion world. Among the other influential players being honoured? Macy’s Inc. president and CEO Jeffrey Gennette, former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts and designers Gabriela Hearst (Chloe) and Kerby Jean-Raymond (Pyer Moss). And don’t worry, the event will air on June 15!
