Spike Lee unveils a brand new pair of Jordans for the Cannes Film Festival

With a fuchsia pink suit by Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton and a pair of Air Jordan 1 PEs specially created for the Cannes Film Festival on his feet, the brilliant president of the 74th edition, Spike Lee, opened the ceremony with a cool look that will be remembered for years to come.

If we listed the coolest pieces of Spike Lee’s filmography a while ago, it’s simply because the director has a strong link with the world of fashion, and more particularly with the Jordan sneakers that he has never stopped wearing. On Tuesday, July 6th, the American arrived in Cannes in a very comfortable outfit: a tracksuit signed Jordan x PSG that left no one indifferent.

This time, to honour his two long-time friends, Tinker Hatfield and the player Michael Jordan, Spike Lee unveiled his most beautiful Air Jordan 1 PE in the colours of France and customised with his image. Each tongue of the half-leather/half-suede shoe features embroidered labels with his face and the words “Festival de Cannes, Jury president”. The man who opened the festival with a poignant speech for the rights of blacks in the United States, the heart of his political and artistic commitment, will also have left his mark by democratising a little more the new elegance: streetwear.
