The Japanese designer continues to make news! After launching a first collaboration with Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton in 2020 and then the first part of the LV² collection last June, the man who has also been appointed new director of Kenzo has just unveiled the second drop of the latest collection, which will be released soon.
Having launched A Bathing Ape in the 90s, Nigo can claim to have become one of the most respected designers in streetwear. Virgil Abloh told Numéro magazine that he considers him to be the “godfather of contemporary streetwear”. And if the two men have known each other for fifteen years, it was only natural that Virgil Abloh would call upon Nigo’s unique vision for Louis Vuitton.
For the second instalment of the LV² collection, they revisit the LV Trainer sneaker, whose all-white upper is covered in red “LV MADE” graphic prints in honour of the partnership. In addition, the wool coat belt echoes an obi belt, which is often found on traditional Japanese silhouettes. In addition, the cruiser bag features Japanese-inspired elements such as the furoshiki knot detail.
The collection will be available in Louis Vuitton shops worldwide on October 28, with the exception of Louis Vuitton Men in Shibuya, where it will launch on November 12, followed by an online release on November 18.
