Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga: the capsule that brings Demna and Ye together

Officially renamed Ye since October, the man previously known as Kanye West continues to expand his creative partnership with Demna Gvasalia, the artistic director of the Balenciaga fashion house. After working hard on Yeezy and then the Donda project, the two artists are joining forces in 2022 to launch YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga.

It’s news that’s sure to get people talking. Demna and Ye will be reunited in 2022 for a GAP capsule. The two men of global influence are regularly in the spotlight. Whether it’s when Demna Gvasalia unveils a critically acclaimed Balenciaga Haute Couture collection or when he unveils a never-before-seen episode of The Simpsons to showcase a stunning ready-to-wear collection. Ye, who recently released Donda (already nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year), has also been making headlines.

While he may be releasing a follow-up to this major musical project, the American has just announced that he will include Demna Gvasalia in his union with GAP. Indeed, Ye has signed a 10-year deal with the brand in 2020 and the few pieces sold under the aegis of their partnership are already worth gold on resale. “This is a very different challenge. I’ve always appreciated the utilitarianism and accessibility of Gap. I share some of the same sensibilities in my creative language. This project has allowed me to join forces with Ye to create utilitarian fashion for everyone,” Demna told Vogue.

The first drop of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga is expected in June, with the second drop coming later this year.
